Pair plead guilty after death of man outside Working Men’s Club in Yorkshire

Two men are due to be sentenced later this year after pleading guilty to offences in connection with the death of Doncaster dad Jason Gaskin.

Mr Gaskin, 53, was killed in an attack outside Park Social Working Men's Club in Balby on Sunday October 29, 2023.

An investigation was launched and following a number of long-running enquiries, two people were charged in connection with Jason's death.

Jake Wells, 27, of Balby, was charged with manslaughter, with James Neeson, 49, also of Balby, charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and perverting the course of justice.

Wells admitted manslaughter during a hearing at Sheffield Crown Court on July 1.

Neeson pleaded guilty to the two offences he was charged with during a hearing at the same court on Friday July 31.

The pair have been released on conditional bail ahead of a sentencing hearing at Sheffield Crown Court on October 19, 2026.

Jason's family have been informed of the developments in this case and continues to be supported by officers, South Yorkshire Police said.
