Police were called to reports of child neglect at a Yorkshire car boot sale on Sunday after a child was left in a car alone.

Police were called to a car boot sale off Otley Old Road, Bramhope, at 9:44am on August 2 following reports of child neglect, West Yorkshire Police confirmed to The Yorkshire Post.

The popular car boot sale is held every Sunday from 6am with hundreds of attendees.

It is one of the most well attended in Yorkshire.

Police arrived to attend to a child reportedly left in the back of a car alone.

The child's parents were identified and spoken to by officers.

Enquiries are continuing to establish what happened, police said.
