A top-rated York burger bar and kitchen has revealed the location of its new city centre site.
Sloppy’s Bar and Kitchen closed its doors in the Acomb Wood Shopping Centre in Woodthorpe just over a month ago in preparation for the move.
It will now re-open later this month in Castlegate, where Clucking Oinks used to be.
Partners Molly McGrath and Leon Sledmore co-founded the restaurant in November 2022 after several years in a kiosk in the city known as Sloppy Burger, which became extremely popular.

They also operated from a couple of other venues before settling next door to the top-rated Italian restaurant, attracted by its warm and welcoming staff and lovely food.
However, the couple had always a sought a return to the city centre and its greater footfall.
Molly told the Press: “We are currently redecorating and refurbishing the restaurant. We are hoping to open later in August but we don’t have a date yet.”
Molly says the location is perfect and central to get more footfall.
“We are excited to be back in the city centre. They are good friends at Clucking Oinks. It (the venue) was an opportunity we could not miss.”
Announcing their departure from the venue, whilst retaining their smaller operation at Spark, the operators of Clucking Oinks said a restaurant location wasn’t “viable” for them due to the “climate situation of hospitality in the UK.”

Clucking Oinks has since announced it is selling from its new food truck at the Fox in Holgate Road from Wednesday to Sunday over the summer.
Molly said: “We just hope the city centre will be the progression we need to push the business forward.”
The new location will have “similar vibes” and a “similar menu” to the former restaurant in Woodthorpe.
Molly continued: “It will have a more restaurant style but with a relaxed atmosphere.”
There will be the famous burgers and wings, but more small plates and cocktails, she added.
