A MAN is in critical condition after a crash which saw him taken to hospital by an air ambulance.

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a crash that took place between white Fiat 500 car and a Yamaha motorcycle on Barbican Road on Saturday lunchtime (August 1).

It happened at the junction with Heslington Road, directly outside the Victoria pub, at 12.40pm and saw the road closed until 10pm whilst investigation work took place.

They added that the driver of the car is assisting the investigation.

“The rider of the motorcycle was taken to hospital by ambulance. He remains in a critical condition,” said a spokesperson for the force.

The air ambulance also attended the scene, with a spokesperson adding: "A number of ambulance resources were dispatched to the scene, including two ambulances and the air ambulance, and one patient was conveyed to hospital by air ambulance."
