PICTURES - Thousands take part in biggest ever York 10K

ORGANISERS are celebrating after thousands of runners, spectators, and supporters packed the streets for the biggest Arla Protein York 10K to date.
The sold-out York 10K began at 9.30am on Sunday, guiding runners through some of York’s most iconic sights, including Clifford’s Tower, York Minster, and the medieval city walls.
The race - which is Organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All and sponsored by Arla Protein - concluded on Knavesmire Road, where crowds cheered participants across the finish line.

Tristan Batley-Kyle, operations director at Run For All, said: "What an incredible day for York and everyone involved in this year's Arla Protein York 10K.
"As our biggest York 10K yet, it has been fantastic to see thousands of runners, spectators, volunteers and supporters come together to be part of such a special occasion.
"The atmosphere across the city has been outstanding, and whether participants were chasing a personal best, taking on their first 10K, enjoying the Mini and Junior races or fundraising for a cause close to their heart, every person played a part in making the day such a success.

Later in the day, the excitement continued with the fully booked Mini and Junior races, giving young participants the chance to enjoy the race-day experience.
The 10K race drew runners of all abilities, raising thousands of pounds for charities including Family Fund, Jane Tomlinson Appeal, RSPCA, St Leonard’s Hospice, The Hut York, York Against Cancer, York Carers Centre, York City Foundation, York Down Syndrome Support Group, and Mind York.

In the men’s race, Samuel Roberts took first place with a time of 00:30:39, followed by Dan Garbutt at 00:31:00 and Joe Sagar at 00:31:02.
Hannah Hobbs led the women’s race, finishing in 00:34:54, with Sarah Hunter close behind at 00:36:37 and Josie Rawes at 00:36:42.
