'Uncanny timing' of Harrogate rock band's new track about human reality of homelessness

A Harrogate musician’s new single has been given what he describes as an “unexpected sense of timing” by the arrival of Andy Burnham as new Prime Minister.

Called Nowhere To Call Home and available now on all major streaming platforms, the new track by Never2Late shines a light on the human reality of homelessness.

The single was recorded just 10 days before Andy Burnham delivered his speech on the steps of 10 Downing Street.

"I actually wrote the song about three to four weeks before Andy Burnham’s speech on the steps of number 10 with his pledge to end sleeping rough,” said the band’s founder SteveB, who was first inspired to play guitar by watching Glastonbury Festival.

"It was inspired by a conversation with someone who helps out at a food kitchen for the homeless in Bradford and reminded me of a time when I helped out at a Salvation Army hostel in Worcester.”

A blues-rock band that has evolved over different musical phases, Never2late are known from playing the likes of Harrogate’s Blues Bar and venues across Yorkshire.

Featuring Joseph Hoare, a respected figure in the local music community, the single combines heartfelt lyrics with a moving performance intended to encourage empathy and understanding.

"Rather than treating homelessness as a distant social issue, Nowhere To Call Home asks listeners to consider the people behind the statistics,” said Steve B.

"The song explores how experiences such as relationship breakdown, unemployment and living costs can push ordinary people into desperate situations.”
