Thank You, Sorry, and Congratulations is the latest exhibition by Yorkshire artist James Thomas Butler

A leading independent Harrogate gallery is to do a double launch this weekend of two Northern artists.

Art lovers are invited to join RedHouse Gallery at 15 Cheltenham Mount for two exhibitions.

The modern and contemporary art gallery is to unveil Thank You, Sorry, and Congratulations, a new solo show by James Thomas Butler – plus Dreamscapes and Storytelling by Candie Payne.

Born in North Yorkshire in 1982, James Thomas Butler’s show highlights the evolution of his journey into floriography and the language of flowers; a style that he debuted in the group exhibition Infinite Nature in Oslo, 2023.

"Nature gives every shape, colour, and pattern we could dream of, and provides us with everything we need to live,” said Butler.

"We should be thanking nature on a daily basis, apologising for our treatment of it, and congratulating it for its absolute magnitude."

Born in Liverpool in 1981, artist and musician Candie Payne will have selected works on view for a limited time

She first came to prominence with her debut album I Wish I Could Have Loved You More on Deltasonic/Sony BMG in 2007.

Collaborations with David Byrne, Kevin Ayers, Paul Weller and Mark Ronson soon followed.

Working predominantly in pencil, pen and ink, Payne creates lustrous illustrations reminiscent of Art Nouveau, full of delicate lines, intricate patterns, and ethereal figures that are characterised by the artist's distinct hallmark of flowing hair.

The launch party will take place at RedHouse Gallery this Friday evening.
