OPINION: Making a difference locally this summer

Summer is a time when communities come together, through local events, activities, volunteering or simply spending time with friends and neighbours.

Across the Harrogate district, local charities and community organisations work every day to support residents, strengthen connections and make a positive difference.

From helping people access vital services and tackling loneliness, to supporting health and wellbeing, young people, older residents and those facing challenges, local organisations are at the heart of our communities. Many rely on the generosity, time and support of local people to continue their important work.

There are many ways to support causes close to home this summer. Attending a community event, volunteering, donating unwanted items, or visiting a charity shop can all help raise awareness and make a difference.
