A MAN who alerted police to a crash outside his pub in York has described “absolute chaos” as emergency services worked to make the scene safe.
It involved a white Fiat 500 and a Yamaha motorcycle, North Yorkshire Police confirmed.
The rider of the motorcycle was taken to hospital by Yorkshire Air Ambulance and remains in critical condition.

Pub landlord Tim Kent was second on the scene, having witnessed the crash from a first-floor window of The Victoria.
He said: “We dialled 999 immediately and waited until the ambulance came.
“Thankfully, they were quick and after they arrived, I began directing traffic around the incident.
“People wanted to keep driving through the area.
“It was chaos all day.”

Tim said that pedestrians wanting to bypass the police cordon began walking through the pub, using The Victoria entrance in Heslington Road, and leaving via Cemetery Road.
He said: “It got so bad that officers eventually told me to close the doors.”
Heslington Road reopened at 10pm that evening.
Police said the driver of the car is assisting officers with their investigation.
