EMERGENCY services have been called to a York city centre car park after smoke was spotted.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and North Yorkshire Police were attending a grass fire near St George's Field car park - close to the river in York city centre - this afternoon (August 2).

It is believed the fire was started deliberately and police have been informed, but it was extinguished quickly with no resources on the scene when our reporter arrived at 4.40pm.
A spokesperson for the service said: "A crew from Easingwold responded to reports of a grass fire, measuring 10m by 10m. Crews used 2 hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots."
