A MAIN bridge in York city centre was closed with emergency services at the scene earlier today.

Ouse Bridge in York city centre was sealed off this lunchtime (August 1) due to a police incident involving a person on the bridge.

The incident was first reported at midday and both York Rescue Boat and the emergency services were at the scene.

Our reporter attended the scene and the bridge was closed on both sides from Low Ousegate to North Street.

Many buses are rerouting due to this closure and pre planned closures for the York 10K.

At 12.35pm (August 2), the person was taken away in a police van.

The road has now reopened.
