Five North Yorkshire parks named among England's best green spaces

People are being encouraged to enjoy North Yorkshire parks this summer as a way to make the most of the season.

In North Yorkshire, five parks have been named among England’s best green spaces, each earning a Green Flag Award.

The parks are Falsgrave Park, Peasholm Park, and South Cliff Gardens in Scarborough, Glen and Crescent Gardens in Filey, and Pannett Park in Whitby.

Councillor Malcolm Taylor, North Yorkshire Council’s executive member for parks and grounds, said: "We are incredibly proud to have received these awards.

"It is credit to the tireless work of our parks team alongside the community groups who help to maintain our green spaces.

"Parks are at the heart of our communities, often providing spaces to socialise, stay active, and reduce stress through being close to nature.

"They are also important in our fight against climate change, and their environment allows nature to thrive."

This comes during Keep Britain Tidy’s Love Parks Week, which runs until Sunday, August 2.

The campaign celebrates the value of parks, the people who care for them, and the benefits they offer to individuals and communities.
