Scott Lindsey had his first training session yesterday since his appointment as York City head coach.
Lindsey is preparing to take charge of his first match in the York dugout on Monday evening, 3rd August, when City host his former employers Crawley Town in the Carabao Cup Preliminary Round at the LNER Community Stadium (7.30pm).
But after the shock sacking of popular title-winning manager Stuart Maynard made it so that Lindsey’s arrival was of controversy to the York fanbase, the new head coach understands the demands he has to meet early on.
Having missed being out on the grass since his Crawley dismissal earlier this year, Lindsey has loved his first days at the club.
“There’s an element of frustration amongst the fans, I get it, but I think there’s a deeper story behind it, which is not my place to speak about.
“However, I’ve absolutely loved it, being back on the training pitch for the first time today.”
The new head coach hopes to have the team playing football his way, as he wants to compensate for lost time in pre-season.
