One of York’s main bridges was sealed off today by emergency services.
Ouse Bridge was closed in both directions, between the Skeldergate junction and Low Ousegate.
Police tape prevented road users and pedestrians from crossing.
It has now reopened and traffic has resumed as normal.
The closure was due to a man standing on the wall in the middle of the bridge.
Police were talking to him, with fire crews and paramedics standing by.
The York Rescue Boat was also in the water close to Ouse Bridge.
Traffic was diverted down Skeldergate at the Micklegate side, and was being turned around on the Low Ousegate side.
It caused extra congestion in the city centre alongside the road closures for today’s York 10K.
We understand that one man was arrested before the bridge reopened.
