Man jailed over attack on two women after night out in Barnsley
Police have hailed the bravery of two women as the man who attacked them after a night out in Barnsley is jailed for two counts of sexual assault.
Haranand Rai, aged 35 and from Tennyson Road in the town, had denied the charges which dated back to February 2023.
He was found guilty after a four-day trial at Sheffield Crown Court and has now been sentenced to six years in prison.
Speaking after the sentencing, Det Con Courtney Moorby of South Yorkshire Police praised the courage of both women in coming forward and for the torment they endured in reliving it before the court.

"This was a deeply distressing ordeal for both women who should never have been subjected to Rai's predatory behaviour," she said.
"Rai never accepted or admitted responsibility for what he did and I want to commend both victims for their courage in coming forward and supporting our investigation.
"It is thanks to their strength and the power of their testimonies that a dangerous individual is now behind bars."
