Appeal after woman cyclist critically injured near Elsham

Police are appealing for information after a cyclist was critically injured near Elsham.

The woman, aged 57, was taken to hospital after an incident on Middlegate Lane at 7.40pm on Thursday evening - although police have not confirmed if anyone else was involved.

She suffered serious injuries, a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said in a statement, and remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the events which led to the cyclist sustaining her injuries," the force said.

"Officers are appealing to anyone with information which could assist their enquiries to contact us."
