A major route in a North Yorkshire town is to close for the installation of pedestrian safety measures.

North Yorkshire Council are installing a new zebra crossing in Railway Street in Malton.

A spokesperson for the council said: "This will be installed on the existing raised area outside the Cornmill.

"Work is due to take place between Monday 10 August and Friday 28 August under traffic light control.

"We will also require a full road closure for one or two days.

"The exact date of this closure depends on progress. Please look out for signage for notice of the road closure.

"To facilitate this closure we will be lifting the one-way system."
