A combine harvester is the latest piece of machinery to be destroyed by fire in North Yorkshire.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service says its crews from Scarborough and Filey were called to Barmoor Lane in Scalby just before 11am today (August 1) after reports of a combine harvester on fire.
It was 100% damaged, and it had spread to 10m by 10m of stubble in a standing crop field.
“Crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets, a thermal imaging camera, beaters, small tools, cutters and spreaders, to deal with the incident,” said a spokesperson for the service.
