A senior solicitor has been welcomed into one of York’s oldest and most distinguished guilds.
Joanne Coen, senior partner at Ramsdens Solicitors, has been welcomed as a member of the Company of Merchant Taylors of the City of York, a historic institution dating back to the 13th century.
Ms Coen said: "I am honoured to have been accepted as a member of the Company of Merchant Taylors of York.
"The organisation has played an important role in the city's history for centuries and continues to make a considerable contribution to York's civic and charitable life today."
The Company of Merchant Taylors is based at the Grade I listed Merchant Taylors' Hall, built in 1415 and recognised as one of the finest surviving guild halls in the world still occupied by its original custodians.
Members are drawn from a wide range of professional backgrounds, including law, business, academia, healthcare, public service, and the military.
