More support is being made available to help people gain basic life skills and improve their independence.
Mencap and major York employer Aviva have launched a financial confidence programme for people with learning disabilities to help them make informed decisions about their money.
The new scheme builds on a £500,000 funding partnership first announced in September 2025.
Alex Christopoulos, Aviva Foundation Lead, said: "By partnering with Mencap, we can help combine practical financial education with deep expertise in supporting people with a learning disability, helping more people build the confidence, knowledge and skills to take greater control of their financial futures."
Workshops are now being rolled out across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
These sessions will cover budgeting, benefits, financial choices, and understanding financial rights.
Jon Sparkes OBE, chief executive of Mencap, said: "Managing money, understanding bills and knowing your rights are the building blocks of an independent life.
"This programme, made possible by our partnership with the Aviva Foundation, will give people with a learning disability and their families the knowledge, skills and confidence to take control of their own finances and future."
Learning resources will also be embedded within Mencap’s staff training platforms, supporting ongoing learning beyond the workshops.
