'Intimate late night' North Yorkshire venue wants to stay open until 3am

A NEW intimate late-night venue in North Yorkshire has applied to extend its opening hours until 3am.

Fusion, near Scarborough town centre, is seeking to extend its opening hours until 3am on Friday and Saturday and 2am from Sunday to Thursday.

A premises licence application submitted by JPH Venues Ltd would also allow the bar at 94-100 St Thomas Street to sell alcohol past 2am.

If approved, the sale of alcohol would be permitted until 2.30am Friday and Saturday, and until 1.30am Sunday to Thursday.

The bar, which opened in November last year, describes itself as a “new intimate late-night venue” on its social media page.

The playing of recorded music could also be extended as part of the application and would match the new proposed opening hours, if the proposal is approved.

The application is currently open to representations from members of the public.

Residents wishing to comment on the proposal should contact the licensing authority by Thursday, August 20.

North Yorkshire Council’s website states: “It is an offence knowingly or recklessly to make a false statement in connection with an application punishable on summary conviction by an unlimited fine.”
