East Riding Council report highlights business growth and tourism success

A council's latest impact report shows strong progress in business growth, job creation and tourism.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council's 2025-26 Impact Report highlights support provided through Invest East Yorkshire and Visit East Yorkshire, which assisted more than 1,100 businesses and helped secure £52 million in contracts.

Councillor Anne Handley, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "We’re proud to play our role in encouraging investment and tourism, supporting local businesses and encouraging investment into the East Riding.

"It’s great to see the business support team exceed their targets and help support thriving communities in our region."

The report details how Invest East Yorkshire’s business centres reached 94 per cent occupancy and delivered ongoing support to 214 businesses.

A total of 91 businesses received grants for projects totalling £1.59 million. A total of 65 new jobs were created.

Nearly half of those jobs went to people aged 16 to 29.

A total of 47 new businesses were also launched, more than double the target.

Visit East Yorkshire supported more than 40 events, including the Beverley Festival of Christmas, which drew 56,000 visitors.

Events generated £8.5 million for the visitor economy, with £58 returned for every £1 invested.
