A historic and charming seaside village in North Yorkshire has been named as a dupe for Italy’s Positano.
Travelodge has revealed that Brits are increasingly choosing staycations over travelling abroad for a range of reasons, including flight delays and cancellations, rising travel costs, and airport queues.
The hotel company has listed its top 10 destinations in the UK that can be dupes for popular holiday spots, with Staithes in North Yorkshire making the list.
Staithes has been compared to Positano thanks to its history as a bustling fishing port and tiny streets packed with adorable houses.
Why is Staithes compared to Positano?
On the coastal village, Travelodge said: "A steep harbour village with postcard cottages and dramatic coastal views, offering a Positano-style escape at home."
It would be easy to spend a few hours walking through the streets of Staithes, as it is packed with history and charm.
Staithes is home to the narrowest alley in the world, which is just 18 inches wide and worth a visit to see if you can fit through it.
You can explore the Captain Cook and Staithes Heritage Centre, which features letters, medals, and over 200 books from James Cook and tells you more about his time in the village.
While the beach is quite small, it is sandy and still a pleasant spot to sit and relax in.
The area is also hugely popular with fossil hunters, as it is also known as the Dinosaur Coast.
There are plenty of places to eat in Staithes, including the Cod & Lobster, which has a beer garden overlooking the sea and offers a range of pub classic dishes.

"This place is out of this world, a beautiful holiday that’s been trapped in time.
"The beach is lovely but small, the rock pools are fantastic and full of sea life.
"This place is for good old-fashioned fun, no slot machines down here.
"Beautiful old village with fantastic pubs to eat at.
"What’s not to like."
Another commenter said: "Beautiful place.
"Well worth a visit and a look in the museum/shops etc.
"Sandy beach small but rocky beach is lovely and great when looking for wildlife."
