An award-winning children's ballet programme is coming to York and Selby.

Classes are launching under the babyballet franchise, led by former primary school teacher Jasmin, who moved to York from Brighton several years ago and recently completed her training to become the programme’s newest franchisee.

She will begin offering classes from September.

Jasmin said: "I've danced since I was two years old and absolutely love it.

"Dance has played such a huge part in making me who I am today.

"Becoming a babyballet franchisee felt like the perfect opportunity to combine everything I'm passionate about."

With a background in dance and a career in education focused on empowering girls through education, Jasmin described babyballet as the ideal way to unite her interests in dance, child development and teaching.

Babyballet is an award-winning pre-school dance programme that introduces babies, toddlers and young children to dance, movement and music through imaginative play, helping to build coordination, balance and confidence in a friendly and inclusive setting.

Founded in 2005, the UK-born brand now spans more than 100 franchise territories across the UK, Australia, New Zealand and the UAE.

Jasmin’s decision to take on the franchise follows nearly a year of planning and training.

She said: "I wanted to make sure it was the right time for me.

"I've loved the training process.

"There has been so much to learn and take in, but it's been fascinating to finally understand the ins and outs of running a babyballet franchise."

Classes will launch from September in locations including Staynor Hall Community Centre in Selby, Easingwold Scout Centre and Wigginton Recreation Hall in York.

Designed for children aged six months to six years, the sessions aim to help young children express themselves, develop friendships and build self-esteem through dance.

Jasmin said: "For me, babyballet is about so much more than teaching dance steps.

"It's about creating a space where children can be themselves, feel proud of who they are and have fun while learning new skills."

A three-week introductory trial can be booked for £22.50 via the babyballet website, with weekly classes priced at £7.50.
