Residents who rely on using the Moor Lane rail bridge in the west of York have been getting frustrated by a lack of information about why work by Yorkshire Water was leading to daytime closures of the road.
Woodthorpe Lib Dem Councillor, Stephen Fenton, says they were told there would only be overnight closure.
He added that he has not had much success trying to get more details from Yorkshire Water.
They have just told him they hoped to complete the work as soon as possible, which they have now done, but Cllr Fenton says there has been no apologies for the disruption caused.
Notices posted in the area said it was envisaged that the closure would only be between 19:00 and 06:00hrs.
Buses and other traffic were having to use a diversion via Thanet Road. Cllr Fenton says the route was becoming very congested at certain times of the day.
YorkMix asked Yorkshire Water if they could supply any further details, this was their reply.
A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: “ The new connection work carried out by our contract partners, Avove, took slightly longer than expected and was completed, with all traffic management and notifications removed from site at 11:58 hrs (Wednesday 29th July).
“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused, however, health and safety is always our priority and barriers and traffic management were removed as soon as it was safe to do so.”
