Man arrested on suspicion of burglary after cattle stolen overnight from farm near Ripley

North Yorkshire Police has arrested a man after recovering a number of cattle stolen from a farm in the Ripley area earlier this week.

The livestock was reported stolen overnight on Sunday, prompting an investigation by officers after the theft attracted widespread attention across the local farming community.

Police have now confirmed that the cattle were recovered on Wednesday night and that a man in his 30s from the West Yorkshire area has been arrested on suspicion of burglary.

He remains in police custody while enquiries continue.

The farmer has been updated and arrangements are now being made for the safe return of the cattle.
