FRAUDSTERS have targeted an elderly woman in the city centre of York.
North Yorkshire Police said it is appealing for information in connection with its investigation which it said happened in Merchantgate, between Piccadilly and Walmgate, at 12.30pm on Friday, June 5.
A force spokesperson said the woman reported being coerced into giving up thousands of pounds in jewellery and cash.
Police said the woman was approached by three Asian women who were aged between 40 and 60.
Police have issued an image of a woman the force believes may have information which could assist its investigation and is asking for the public's assistance.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We're urging people to come forward if any of the three women have made similar approaches.
