Fire crews from Tadcaster and York were called to a fire next to the A64.
They were called to reports of smoke in a field at 4.59pm yesterday (Tuesday).
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “On arrival fire crews found a fire measuring approximately 10 metres by 10 metres, and a further three seats of fire measuring approximately 3 metres by 3 metres.
“Crews used a main jet, 45 jet and 2 knapsack sprayers to extinguish and damp down, then used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.”
