Harrogate Advertiser reader raises the alarm about 'health hazard' in the heart of Harrogate
A Harrogate Advertiser reader has thanked North Yorkshire Council for clearing up an “eyesore” in Harrogate town centre.
The reader thanked the council’s waste operations team from Claro Road in Harrogate for tackling the build-up of litter on part of Parliament Street.
The Harrogate Advertiser reader had first drawn the attention of the local authorities to the situation several months ago.
"I reported this terrible eyesore and health hazard in the heart of Harrogate near the old night club at the bottom of Parliament Street on September 11 last year.

"North Yorkshire Council’s Environment department very kindly replied that the bottles, cans, litter etc would be cleared by a Street Scene Team from Claro Road at the earliest opportunity.
“Ten months later, local residents and many visitors were still complaining about the mess which has been in place for years.
"Many thanks to everyone for their contributions in getting this area in the centre of Harrogate tidied up and looking much cleaner and fresher,” said the reader.
"Well done to the whole team.”
