ROADS across York are set to be closed to traffic as thousands of runners prepare to take to the streets this weekend.
The Run For All York 10k is taking place on Sunday (August 2) with closures set to affect transport across the city.
Starting at 9.30am on Knavesmire Road, near York Racecourse, participants of all ages and abilities will run through the city, passing landmarks such as Clifford's Tower, York Minster, and the medieval walls.

Going into its 17th year, the event is an important fundraising opportunity - raising millions for various charities - and also attracts hundreds of volunteers and supporters who line the route to cheer on the runners on their circular route back to Knavesmire.
Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All, said: "The safety of our participants, spectators and local communities is always our top priority. As with any major road running event, temporary road closures are required to ensure the event can take place safely.
"We would like to thank residents and businesses for their patience and understanding, and apologise for any inconvenience these restrictions may cause. Our team will work hard to reopen roads as quickly as possible once it is safe to do so."
Closures are set to span from York Minster to York Racecourse, with a list as follows:
- Knavesmire Road will be closed from 5pm on July 31 until 3pm on August 2. Waiting restrictions will also be in place as necessary during this time.
- Racecourse Road will experience the same closure times as Knavesmire Road, prohibiting vehicular traffic throughout the event.
- Bishopthorpe Road will see restrictions between the junctions with Campleshon Road and Butcher Terrace, and Campleshon Road and Racecourse Road from 4pm on August 1 to 3pm on August 2.
- Waiting restrictions on Bishopthorpe Road will also be enforced from 4pm on August 1 to 3pm on August 2.
- Priory Street will have all on-street parking suspended from 6pm on August 1 until 11am on August 2.
Additional road closures will be introduced on race day. Racecourse Road and Campleshon Road will close from 5am, followed by Bishopthorpe Road from 7.30am.
From 8.30am, further closures will be in place on Bishopgate Street, Nunnery Lane, Blake Street, Bridge Street, Butcher Terrace, Castlegate, Church Street, Clementhorpe, Clifford Street, Coppergate, Coney Street, Cumberland Street, Deangate, Duncombe Place, Fetter Lane, Goodramgate, King’s Staith, Micklegate, Minster Yard, Nessgate, Pavement, Parliament Street, Priory Street, Skeldergate, Spurrier Gate, St Helen’s Square, and Terry Avenue.
During the event, the one-way traffic flow in Lower Friargate Street will be suspended, allowing for two-way traffic.
Traffic signs and barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions.
