FIREFIGHTERS have been tackling four blazes in a field close to a key road near York.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from the city and Tadcaster were called after smoke was seen in a field close to the A64 around 5pm yesterday (Wednesday, July 28).
A service spokesperson said: "On arrival, crews found a fire measuring approximately 10 metres squared and a further three seats of fire measuring three metres squared.
"Crews used jets and knapsack sprayers to extinguish and damp down the fire.
"A thermal imaging camera was used to check for any hotspots."
