York family firm launches new DIY range for outdoor spaces

A York company has launched a collection of composite decking boards and wall cladding panels to help people create new outdoor areas themselves.
Panels by Sophia says its new outdoor range is designed for easy installation and low maintenance. It is also durable and suitable for all weather conditions, promising not to warp, rot, or splinter.
Panels by Sofia was founded in 2023 and is a family-run business owned by husband and wife team Joe and Summa Costandi, who aim to make the DIY process easier, so homeowners can add character to their homes.
Summa Costandi said: "Gardens have become an extension of the home, and we know that homeowners are looking to create more usable outdoor spaces, with areas to relax, unwind and spend time with the family.

Made from modern composite materials, the products are designed to be long-lasting and easy to care for.
The composite decking boards feature a natural wood look and are reversible, offering either a narrow groove or woodgrain finish.
Available in 2,900mm and 3,600mm lengths, the boards come in a selection of colours, including black, anthracite grey, slate grey, and brown.
Panels by Sophia says installation is simplified with hidden starter clips for a seamless finish, and no painting or sealing is required.

The outdoor wall panels come in slatwall and shiplap designs and are intended for use on exterior walls and outbuildings.
Available in light teak, stone grey, charcoal, and walnut, the panels are offered in 2,500mm and 3,600mm lengths.
For installation, the company recommends fitting a breathable waterproof membrane and treated timber battens beneath the panels before securing them with screws.
