A stage mystery is set to captivate audiences when a much-loved novel comes to life in York later this year.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time will run at the Grand Opera House York from October 27 to October 31, 2026, in a newly reimagined production starring Alex Keenan as Chris Boone.
Imi Price will also take on the lead role in an alternating cast, marking the first time the character will be played by a woman.
The cast also features Charlie Brooks, best known for her role as Janine Butcher in EastEnders, and Joe McFadden, winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2017 and star of Holby City.
Ms Brooks and Mr McFadden will play Chris’s parents, Judy and Ed.
The stage production is adapted by Simon Stephens from Mark Haddon’s bestselling novel and directed by Ned Bennett.
It tells the story of Chris Boone, a mathematically gifted teenager who struggles to interpret the world around her.
When a neighbour’s dog is found dead, Chris sets out to solve the mystery, uncovering deeper personal truths in the process.
Originally premiering at the National Theatre in 2012, the play has since been seen by more than five million people worldwide.
