New 'best value for money' study rates North Yorkshire theme park in Britain's top ten

A family-friendly North Yorkshire adventure park which has reduced its ticket prices in line with the Government’s temporary VAT cut has been named in the top ten UK best-value theme parks.

Lightwater Valley Family Adventure Park, which made the move to help families save by making days out more affordable during the summer holidays, rates highly in a new study comparing theme parks in the UK.

Compiled by credit card brand Aqua – https://www.aquacard.co.uk/ – the factors taken into consideration included peak-season adult ticket prices, the number of rollercoasters, visitor reviews, parking charges, and nearby hotel costs.

The results revealed that the best value for money this summer is Blackpool Pleasure Beach, partly because it offers the highest number of rollercoasters in the country (26), which works out at £1.22 per ride.

With tickets priced at £25 and 11 rollercoasters, it offers good ride variety alongside free parking and a respectable 4.1/5 review rating.

Although hotel prices are higher, averaging £222, its low entry cost and strong ride-to-price ratio help secure its place in the rankings.

In joint third place is Gulliver’s Land and Fantasy Island, a Buckinghamshire attraction which offers free parking and average entry costs of £26.

The rest of the top ten includes M&D's Scotland Theme Park in Strathclyde, Codona's Amusement Park in Aberdeen, Drayton Manor Theme Park at Tamworth, Alton Towers Resort at Stoke-on-Trent, Adventure Island at Southend-on-Sea and Paultons Park in the New Forest.
