A driver has been banned from the road and is awaiting sentence for causing serious injury to another motorist in a crash on a rural crossroads.
Jonathan David Haigh accepted responsibility for the two-car collision on the B1224 at its junction with Rudgate, west of York, on February 23.
The 66-year-old from D’Arcy Road, Selby, pleaded guilty to causing serious injury to a woman by careless driving of a Volkswagen car.
York magistrates adjourned his case for a pre-sentence report and disqualified him until he returns to court to learn his sentence and the length of his ban on August 24. He was released on bail until then.
Haigh attended York Magistrates' Court with the aid of a crutch. His solicitor Kevin Blount said he had arthritis and other physical and mental health issues.
The woman was driving a Hyundai when the two vehicles collided on February 23. She was taken to hospital.
The B1224, which connects York with the A1 and Wetherby, was blocked for some hours following the crash while emergency services dealt with the incident and cleared the road.
