Thousands of fans turned out to watch Sir Tom Jones as he delivered a powerful sell-out performance at Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Sunday night.

The Welsh music icon returned to the North Yorkshire coast for his fifth headline appearance at the open-air concert venue, opening his 90-minute set with 2021 track I’m Growing Old.

Sir Tom quickly moved into a run of his best-known hits, including It’s Not Unusual, What’s New Pussycat, Sex Bomb and You Can Leave Your Hat On.

His 1968 classic Delilah prompted the biggest singalong of the night, before the main set closed with a cover of Prince’s Kiss.

The 86-year-old singer then returned for an encore featuring Green Green Grass of Home, Strange Things and high-energy renditions of Johnny B Goode and Great Balls of Fire.

Support came from British soul group Stone Foundation, who warmed up the crowd ahead of the headline performance.

It was Tom Jones' fifth performance at Scarborough Open Air Theatre.

Sir Tom's performance came after he packed out the Halifax Piece Hall the evening before. Both shows marked a welcome return to both venues for Sir Tom who performed two sold‑out nights at The Piece Hall in 2022 and 2024, while this will be his fifth performance at Scarborough OAT - his last being a sold-out show in 2024.

The show follows performances on the same stage by multiple Grammy Award winner James Taylor who played on Saturday, July 25, joined by his All-Star Band.

His gig closed his European tour with a two-hour set of timeless classics to a sold-out crowd.

Teddy Swims also performed last week at the coastal venue, with two sell-out shows.

It marks another major night in the TK Maxx presents Scarborough Open Air Theatre summer season, which continues this weekend with The Streets on Saturday and Sex Pistols featuring Frank Carter on Sunday.
