North Yorkshire agricultural show back on Sunday with 7,000 visitors expected

A popular agricultural show west of York is preparing for its 2026 return.
The Tockwith and District Agricultural Show will take place on Sunday, August 2, at Cattal Moor Lane, with new chairman Phil Tottie leading the event, which aims to surpass last year's turnout of nearly 7,000 visitors.
This year’s show will celebrate all things goat, with a packed schedule of nearly 300 classes, more than 120 trophies, and over £6,000 in prize money.
Phil Tottie, chairman, said: "The Tockwith and District Agricultural Show has been bringing this community together for generations, and I couldn't be prouder to lead it into 2026.

"After returning in 2025 with new volunteers, we have a new sense of purpose to honour the traditions that make the show such a fantastic family day out, whilst ensuring that we make our communities aware of the incredible work of British farmers.
"Farming is under real pressure right now, and the show is our chance to stand behind the people who put food on our tables – to celebrate them, support them, and show the next generation that there's a future in farming worth fighting for.
"If you've never been before, this is the year to come."
The show was paused in 2024 due to a shortage of volunteers but returned in 2025 with renewed vigour and community support.

New for 2026 is the Farmers’ Hub, a dedicated area for farmers to connect and share experiences, supported by charities and veterinary professionals throughout the day.
Making their debut at Tockwith will be the Steven Longton Sheepdogs, offering herding demonstrations in the main ring.
Other attractions include Farlavale Gun Dogs, heavy horse displays, and the popular mascot race.
Children can enjoy free activities such as crafts, animal encounters, and gardening, while visitors can browse craft and trade stands featuring textiles, woodwork, and artisan foods.
Dogs are welcome and can take part in the dog dash and fun classes.
Show presidents Lisa and Paul Chasney, owners of Goose Beck Vineyard in Bilton-in-Ainsty, have chosen Yorkshire Air Ambulance as this year’s charity.
Ms Chasney said: "People don't realise, but when you're out working at one end of a field and something happens, particularly in difficult terrain, the air ambulance is a lifeline.
"They do such important work in supporting farmers."

Tickets are £16 for adults and £5 for ages 13–16, with under-12s free.
