A FIRE has broken out close to a railway line near a North Yorkshire village.
The county's fire and rescue service said a crew from Selby was called to Carlton at 12.45 this morning (Monday, July 27).
A train driver spotted the blaze which measured nine square metres.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire was extinguished using a hose reel jet.
"The incident was left with a Network Rail officer who informed all passing train drivers that residual steam could vent off from where the fire was extinguished for some time during the night."
